The Soul Reader and My “Slippery Character”

Last month I shared an experience about a stress-induced ER visit that led me to have my Soul read. I, of course, have received a lot of questions on the topic of Soul Reading and what happened after.

The Soul reader suggested I have to make some lifestyle changes, be selective about the people I surround myself with, and in doing so I will be able to realize a part of me I have kept hidden away and that will lead me to achieve exponential success. I’m paraphrasing, of course. But what happened after, is it pushed me further along a path of transformational change that I am now ready for at this stage in my life. If you want to know more about the Soul Reader check out Sacha’s website here.

The pandemic brought about in me, as it did with many of us, an opportunity for self-discovery. Prior to the Soul reading, I had taken part in The Course with Sheri Salata, who wrote the bestselling book The Beautiful No. The Course is broken up into 2 parts: The first part is about strategies for transformational growth (practices Sheri has been engaging in since leaving the Oprah Show/OWN), and the 2nd is about getting yourself set up to write your own story. Which I am in the process of doing. I highly recommend this course for those interested in the topics of writing and personal transformation.

So why am I seeking out this type of enlightenment you may ask? My answer…everyone is changing and evolving, just some of us less consciously than others. Over the past few years I felt I have been moving through life with a less authentic purpose. I had come through some tough times, and after coming through them I realized I may very well be stuck in a rut. Who knew? I sure as hell didn’t, I thought I was killing it!

The Soul Reading and The Course were meant to be my rut-busters, and I have picked up some great tips and tricks along the way. Like this concept of Esteemable Practices, I learned from Sheri.

Esteemable Practices are the big and little things you do for yourself that set the tone for how you want to live and move through the world. This could be how you maintain your home, your workout regiment, diet, sleep routine, etc. One great example is from a woman in The Course who gives herself a turndown service every night before she goes to bed. She dims the lights, lights a candle, turns down her bed, so when she comes back to her bedroom her mindset is shifted. I often have trouble falling to sleep so I am currently doing a version of this and I have to say it is helping.

While I am all in on the practices and insights I have gathered over the past year, I am also what Sheri Salata has referred to as “a slippery character.” I can get 10 steps deep into some serious self-betterment and then; wine, cocktail, pizza and Netflix-binge my way right back to where I started. It is so ironic how we all know what makes us feel our best and we often do just the opposite. This is the dance I am in with myself at the moment. Work is on fire, travel has ramped up, and there are way more social distractions with everything opening. I feel myself floating between that all-or-nothing vibe. And when it comes to all or nothing — if you are not careful you can wind up with NOTHING.

My solution is to get more organized around my approach to self care and success. I started using Michael Hyatt’s Full Focus Planner that helps you plan your year, design your days and achieve your biggest goals.

I am managing my diet, meditation, and exercise through the help of apps, and I hired a personal trainer whose gym is just down the street (no excuses). I have become big on supplements like Turmeric Curcumin for inflammation, Kyo-Greens for energy.

I have learned to talk to myself like I would my best friend; with kindness, and not berate myself for any backslides. I do my best not to compare myself to anyone else as that is a slippery slope. When I do fall off the wagon, I get curious about what is driving me back to old habits that seem to be keeping the best of me revealed (per the Soul Reader).

All I know for sure is I am on the path, and I am staying on it. I am headed towards exponential growth and success. By loosening my grip and letting the good thoughts manifest, I am seeing things starting to happen. My rut is officially busted!

So if you find yourself slipping back into your sweatpants on the regular, give yourself a break and fall into the process of growth through kind words and taking actionable steps that work for you.

If you let me, I am going to keep filling your cups with more findings that may help you on your path to exponential growth and success. Life’s a journey, and we can all use some directional support from time to time.
